In 1970, when most automotive air fresheners were liquid types in glass bottles, our development team wanted to make something that wouldn’t break and was airtight so that fragrance could be sealed in for a long time. From this, they arrived at the idea of putting air freshener in a can. In 1980, after two years of trial and error, we commercialized the first canned air freshener.
The special material we use for our adsorbents is amazing at absorbing both water and oil. It is also excellent at controlled release (slowly releasing the components it has absorbed), allowing it to maintain its original fragrance for a long period of time. The development team overcame repeated failures to make this material into a ceramic. Due to the cost and labor involved, Eikosha is the only manufacturer to use adsorbents made from this special material.
Our development team noticed that fragrance tended to accumulate between the adsorbent and the bottom of the can. This spurred us to redesign our cans based in the idea that “If both the top and bottom sides of the can opened, maybe you could use all of the fragrance without any left over.”. We want our customers to enjoy quality fragrance as long as possible. This desire gave birth to the novel idea that made AIR SPENCER even more popular.
